Google’s November Spam Update
Google announced an algorithm update targeting spam attacks. Google regularly rolls out updates regarding spam and this is the third update with no specifics announced. Thanks to these updates, 99% of visits on SERPs Search engine result pages are spam-free. Websites following Google’s webmaster guidelines should not worry about constant spam updates. Last year, 2020, Google blocked 25 million spammy index pages from being indexed in the SERPs.
If a website is not adequately secured by coding or plugins it’s vulnerable to being hacked, which can result in website serving spam and/or malware to users. In the eyes of Google, the hacking or spamming is considered spamming. If this issue is not rectified, then the website ranking drops. If your site suddenly drops in rankings following this month’s spam update, check your site’s security and look for signs of a possible attack. Always check with Google Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console for possible messages.
